The ‘university of football’ in Manchester are offering 25 lucky students the opportunity to grab themselves a degree for free. Which, given the fact that the average cost of a degree these days is between £36,000 and £48,000, isn’t a bad deal at all.

After launching a £1.25m scholarship fund, the University Campus of Football Business (UCFB) are offering the freebie to any students from Manchester. The Next 25 fund, launched in partnership with anti-racism charity Kick It Out, are giving the recipients the full tuition fee scholarships – worth up to £54,000.

The degrees will be completed at Wembley campus in London or the University Campus of Football Business’s Etihad campus. “UCFB is committed to inclusion and diversity within the football industry at all levels, so we’re delighted to be able to partner with Kick It Out to offer this incredible scholarship opportunity,” Sharona Friedman, UCFB’s chief marketing officer, says.

“The recipients of this award will not only receive a first-class education to begin their career in the football industry, but the opportunity to represent Kick It Out and UCFB around the country is truly a one-off experience that shouldn’t be missed.”

Not only that, but the recipients of the scholarship will become official ambassadors for Kick It Out across the football industry. As they will be acting as peer educators, recipients will need to demonstrate an understanding and passion for diversity and inclusivity.

“Kick It Out and UCFB are dedicated to educating the leaders of tomorrow in the importance of diversity and a level playing field in all sectors of the game,” Roisin Wood, chief executive of Kick It Out, said. “This unique scholarship, which covers 100 percent of tuition fees, is the perfect way to promote inclusion and help spread the word on diversity in football.”

So, do you think that diversity is important in football and in society as a whole? Do you want to net yourself a free degree and save yourself a bundle on your education? What are you waiting for? Apply for this right now, it could be the best thing that you ever did.
